This has been called a "family film," by which people mean that there's nothing in it inappropriate for young children, yet it has enough of a plot to hold an adult's attention. This certainly is the case. Approx. 99 minutes

You'll feel you've seen this movie before: it's about the underdog triumphing over the system, a type of movie churned out by the dozens, but the fact that there are so many movies like this means they have a lot of appeal. It has shades of Field of Dreams, which is another thing most people can't get enough of. Within its genre, this is a very good film.

The people in a small town look down their noses at Greg Cima because his father is a convict. "Like father, like son," they say. Greg blames his father for his problems and believes that his only chance to prove himself is on the football field. After he's kicked off the team, he meets a mysterious Native American who teaches him that his destiny is in his own hands. The lesson in this movie is when the girl that Greg likes talks to him about the need for them to forgive their fathers, both of whom are in prison, and both for their activities that disgraced their family. This movie promotes good family discussion of various aspects of forgiveness. The main theme is the need to set a goal and then let nothing get in the way of achieving it. In athletics this includes intensive training. However, it also includes mentally focusing on the goal until it becomes such a drive it is an automatic response when the challenge is presented. Children need to learn the necessity of training and study to achieve a goal, and how to psychologically 'program' themselves to accomplish that goal.
